The first 168 pages of this book by Linda Lazarides explores everything from water retention to allergies and includes in-depth information on how the body really works. It sounds a bit heavy going, but each chapter includes case studies and a questionnaire, so if a particular chapter doesn’t apply to you, you can move. The idea is to find out whether you have water retention and, if so, what causes it.
The diet is split into three phases;
Phase One is a four week total cleanse. There is a list of foods you can eat and a long list of those you can’t including wheat, dairy, yeast and eggs, which are all foods that can cause allergies and water retention.
During Phase Two, once your body is completely clear of toxins you reintroduce different foods to see how they affect you. Week one you can eat wheat for five days, week two dairy for five days, week three eggs for five days and then finally week four yeast for five days.
After 8 weeks of carrying out Phase One and Two, you should know which foods are ‘unsafe’ for you. Phase Three allows you to reintroduce previously banned food and drink including red meat, coffee and tea. It is more of a lifestyle plan than a diet.

Pros
If you have a feeling you are allergic to, or adversely affected by, some foods, this is a great way to pin-point exactly what affects you and why.
Cons
This is a strict diet plan, especially for the first four weeks, but if you are dedicated and don’t cheat you should get great results.
