If you want to become a better runner, take some time to incorporate some speed and efficiency drills into your training.

'By incorporating drills that target aspects of good running form, you will be training the body to recognise that movement so it can become part of your normal running mechanics,' explains Reebok trainer, Claire Burton, who joined the ELLE Running Club and incorporated these two drills as part of our warm-up.

Butt kicks

How?
Run along at a steady pace and try to kick your bum with your foot each time

Why?
Butt Kicks improve leg turnover speed by engaging the hamstrings and emphasising the recovery part of the running gait

High knees

How?
Again run along at a steady pace but exagerrate your run so your knee comes up high in front of you each time.

Why?
Again, this will help improve running speed but also efficiency by highlighting knee lift, together with hamstring and glute strength.
