The Concept:  Heartcore has five studios in the West London area. Each studio offers reformer Pilates, which, despite having tried a few different classes in the city, was tough. They also offer hybrid Pilates classes involving spin bikes, kettlebells, as well as sessions on a Barre or TRX.

For Workout Wednesday we booked a classic reformer class – it was dynamic with little downtime between exercises. Using a Pilates ring as well as hand weights, and varying the resistance on the reformer, we worked different muscles feeling the burn in each. There were squats, planks and crunches, exercises more akin to a bootcamp, but combined with other focused Pilates movements that were targeting and honing smaller muscles for a well-rounded workout.

What You Need: Typical Pilates kit – leggings and a vest are ideal. Towels and water are provided.

Difficulty Rating: 4/5 – this is tough, despite there being no cardio you will sweat buckets.

Location: Kensington, Notting Hill, Hampstead, Chelsea, Fulham

Cost: From £17.50 per class
