A blend of Tabata and Yoga

The Concept: If you’re a yoga purist, avert your eyes. Taboga is a blend of Tabata (high intensity interval training) and yoga. It’s ideal for anyone who finds traditional yoga too meditative and want’s to get their heart rate up.

The session starts with sun salutations before numerous rounds of high intensity exercises with short recovery in between. For example, we did twenty seconds of jumping squats, with ten second rests which we repeated 8 times. We did four different exercises like this before moving back to the yoga, part of Taboga – we did various poses including warrior one, extended side angle and headstand preparation.

What You Need: Typical yoga kit, everything is done bare footed.

Difficulty Rating: 4/5 – the tabata is tough in the cardio sense, while the yoga challenges you strength and flexibility.

Location: Nordic Balance, In and Out members club, No. 4 St. James's Square, London, SW1Y 4JU.
