As the weather heats up, so do our workout regimes. ELLE Intern Olivia McCormick lists our ten favourite fitness apps. They'll help you sweat for all the right reasons.

Nike Training Club

This app was specially designed for women and features audio of female trainers (you'll have more than 85 to choose from) coaching you through your workout sessions.  Choose from the categories Get Lean, Get Strong, Get Toned, or Get Focused and discover your new best friend – in app form.

MyFitnessPal

MyFitnessPal combines diet and exercise, tracking both to calculate your total calorie consumption each day. You can select countless different foods (your morning green juice, your lunchtime falafel wrap) and exercises from their impressively large database to create personalised diet diaries and goals to suit your lifestyle.

Map my Run

Every detail of your workout is tracked by GPS including time, pace, speed, distance, elevation and calories burned.  Bonus: you can follow your route on an interactive map and enjoy motivational voice prompts to let you know how far you've come.

Strava

A running and cycling tracker app, which uses GPS to measure your rides, with the option to add alternatives such as yoga and kickboxing. Strava will appeal to your competitive side as it allows you to challenge friends for that top spot on the leaderboard, whatever the activity may be.

7 Minute Workout

Sometimes we just can’t find the time, but now there’s no excuse. With a range of high intensity bodyweight routines, 7 Minute workout will vocally guide you through a different exercise for 30 seconds with a 10 second rest in between each one.

FitStar Yoga

Yoga guru Tara Stiles gets you moving with personalized yoga workouts that make the practice accessible for even the least flexible of us.

Endomodo

The personal trainer that you can use anywhere, anytime. Endomodo can track almost any distant-based sport, recording duration, distance and calories burned. The best part is, it will provide you with encouraging feedback at regular intervals and the logged training diary allows you to see the results.

Moves

Moves will track your daily activity rates just by being in your pocket, creating a visual storyline of your life whether you’re walking, running, or cycling. At last - running for the bus and taking out the recycling will count as regular exercise.

Couch to 5K

For all of you beginners out there, Couch to 5K aims to get us all up and running within just 8 weeks. This app will create a gradual and personal plan, allowing you to build up your strength and stamina literally one step at a time.

The Apple Watch

For those of us who have decided to invest, the apple watch comes with a built in workout app which delivers real-time stats including: time, distance, calories, speed and pace, for a variety of activities. This workout app keeps you motivated as it records every movement throughout your day, plus, you don’t have to worry about it falling out of your pocket.
