It’s taken us 29 years but we've just joined our first gym, hurrah!

Thankfully, luckily, essentially, it’s just down the road but we still got the bus there. Babysteps.

We boxed, we did a thing called a burpy and sweated a lot. The heavily pregnant instructor was less out of breath than us. Nevertheless, we powered through.

We knew we would need an incentive to get to the end (something more immediate than ‘our hearts will thank us for it when we’re 80’). So we rustled up an energy boost and sweet treat for the bus home.

There are SO many smoothie recipes out there - matcha this, green goji goo that, bee pollen the other. This one may not be fancy but it’s just the trick after a hard (ish) workout.

Almond and Banana smoothie

(Serves 2 sweaty girls)

500ml almond milk

2 frozen bananas (if using fresh bananas add some ice)

2 teaspoons of almond butter

2 tablespoons of Total Greek yoghurt

A generous grating of nutmeg

2 teaspoons of maple syrup (optional)
