Forgive me for sounding somewhat evangelical here but I’ve just done my first spin class and I’m high as a kite off the adrenalin and endorphins.

This morning, the #ELLEFit team got our Boom Cycle on with ELLE’s fitness editor, Muireann Carey-Campbell, known to her friends and (cult) fitness following as Bangs. We have three words: Oh. My. God.

The class was the most intense, exhilarating, grueling, uplifting, life-affirming 45 minutes of our lives. Yep, I’m so confident that I’m speaking on behalf of my ten colleagues with absolute conviction.

The secret ingredient was Bangs. Talk about empowering women. She took this rogue bunch of spinning newbies and turned us into gods with her words of encouragement, killer one-liners and motivational mantras. In that little dark, bike-filled room, anything was possible. I may make it my new office. I’ll be queen of the universe before the end of the week.

The music is essential too. Bieber, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga. It’s all about the beat. Spinning is basically a massive night out in the club without the horrific hangover. No. instead, you emerge back out in to the world feeling fitter, happier and enthused about life. The bar has been set.

Bangs, you have 10 new disciples.
