Workout Wednesday: The Amazons Bootcamp

Bootcamp becomes fun

The Concept: If you’re a little wary of hiring a personal trainer for fear of being barked at by a man mountain in a muscle vest to ‘GET DOWN AND GIVE ME 20’ every time you stop for water, the Amazons is for you. Trainer Ana, a friendly, experienced and fully qualified instructor with years of experience, will come to your local park armed with a boot full of equipment to put you through your paces in the nicest possible way. You can either do this solo, or with a group of friends for moral support (you will be pummelling car tyres with giant hammers and waving about a giant rope amongst other things and it’s a little less embarrassing to do that in public with a gang). The session starts with a run around the park to warm up, and is then split into boxing sessions, and circuits – it’s so much fun that you don’t realise you’re exercising. You certainly do the next day though.

What You Need: A sense of humour and no shame – people will point and laugh at you wielding your hammer.

Difficulty Rating: You can go as easy or as hard as you like – Ana takes into account your level of fitness and tailors the hour to suit.

Location: Wherever in London you are – although she runs regular group bootcamps in Richmond and South West London.

Cost: £50 per session for 1 hour personal training, £12 for the Bootcamp sessions.
