Finding the right yoga teacher and the right location can be tricky. Some yoga is more about relaxation with fewer physical (read: toning) benefits, while Bikram is 90-minutes of intense poses in a very hot room.

Hotpod Yoga bridges the two, taking all the elements most people love in yoga and brings them (in an inflatable) to you. The teachers at Hotpod have their own unique style based on the age-old Vinyasa yoga - a happy blend of relaxing and muscle-challenging poses so you leave the class feeling like you’ve had a full-on workout but also rejuvenated. At points throughout you’ll feel puffed out, at others you’ll feel like you’re toning your body, it’s an impressive workout.

As for the Hotpod itself; it looks like an upside bouncy castle and it can be deflated to a portable size. This means that the inflatable I took my class in at Brixton on the Saturday morning was transported, with ease, up to Notting Hill that afternoon for another class.

That’s the aim, that yoga teachers will be able to take their pods wherever, whenever. To offices, local halls – wherever there is demand.

Inside the pod it starts off feeling quite normal in temperature, but as the class progresses the heaters slowly push upwards. It’s a subtle incline in warmth but soon everyone was sweating hard. It’s not quite as intense as the heat from Bikram, but enough to help remove any toxins (well, it was a Saturday morning and the night before had been spent in the pub). Incredibly, it also didn't smell sweaty. I did spy a Muji Aroma Diffuser with a Suki Shufu scent wafting out from the corner of the inflatable...

Each month the co-founders Max and Nick partner with like-minded health brands, last month Aussie active wear brand Lorna Jane were showcasing key pieces from the range at classes (with a discount on all purchases), I was won over by the Kayla sports bra. This month Plenish Cleanse will be bringing fresh juices and offering discounts on juice deliveries to your home or office and Lucas Hugh will be showcasing its designs - the kepler Capri Leggings are, by far, the best fitting and most comfortable I have ever run in.

At the moment Hotpod is starting small with Saturday classes in Brixton at 10am, Notting Hill at 3pm with a view to expand to other areas of London in the future. It also travels to various office buildings around London (so you could always try to persuade your boss...). The team are looking to franchise the Hotpod concept out to yoga teachers not just in the UK, but worldwide so we expect to see a lot more of these Hotpods in the future.
