Marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe, ELLEs Lorraine Candy, fashion designer Holly Fulton and actress-writer-director Bonnie Wright led the crowds out of the starting gantry, light tunnels illuminated the race route, musicians performed live and runners received a necklace designed by Alex Monroe at the finish line. The resounding consensus? We want to do it all over again, tomorrow.

Lorraine Candy – Editor-in-Chief

‘I felt incredibly proud of the team especially those who have just started running. No other team in glossy magazines would have had as much fun as we did either. For me seeing all the lovely women I have been jogging with on a Wednesday lunch time finally in their race gear was really inspiring. AS we say at ELLE; ‘you can if you think you can’’

Collette Lyons - Acting Content Director

'I had genuinely expected to walk at least half of the course. But I kept exact pace with Emma Sells, promising myself that I'd start walking when she did. But she didn't (damn her), so I didn't. The last 200m were the absolute worst, but we did it. I welled up when we finished – I probably would have actually cried, if I'd had the energy.'

Joely Walker - Beauty Assistant

'I turned up at WOTN feeling tired, wet through (caught in torrential rain en route) and slightly begrudging the fact it was 8pm on a Saturday night and I hadn't had a glass of wine yet. But once I finally got into the festival-like set-up that all changed; the positive, energetic atmosphere was infectious. I ended up running a PB (10 minutes faster than last year's time) and I've even signed up to another 10K in July.'

Kenke Danmole - Fashion Intern

‘It was surreal (still is because 'I am not a runner'). I couldn't believe I was actually doing it and OWNED IT in good time. This was the first time I had ever ran 10k, it wasn't easy, but hearing the footsteps of thousands of determined women, made it far from hard. I was inspired and will never forget the amazing feeling of accomplishment I felt as I approached the finish line. I ended the night perfectly with a Kiehl's skin consultation and a little (OK, big) celebratory dance.’

Gillian Brett - Editor in Chief's PA/Editorial Assistant

'It was a cold, wet night and I am a complete weather wuss when it comes to running. The energising atmosphere from all the runners and the amazing Nike event village distracted me from the woeful weather and pushed me to the finish line in record time, just shaving a few seconds off my PB.'

Charlie Gowans-Eglinton - Fashion Assistant

'My first 10k race was also the first time I'd ever run 10k, so I was half expecting not to finish – but the thought of the champagne at the finish line and my running buddy Joely Walker kept me going. Not so much a personal best as a personal first.'
