Paris Training Diary 2/03/14
We did it! We put in the training and we all smashed our PBs. We each had a personal mantra for making it through those testing, final few kms, but a huge amount of thanks must go to our diligent (and very patient) trainers:
Rob Carruthers at TenPilates for 'awakening our glutes' from desk job retirement, and making our hip flexors all nice and limber. And Russell Bateman, founder of SBC, who squatted and lunged us to super-strong legs.
A very special thanks goes to Tim Weeks who even hopped on the Eurostar last minute to come join us for the run. Tim's new posi-vibes spin class studio Psycle in central London has become our favorite place to go for some cathartic cardio!
Praise must also go to Sweaty Betty for kitting us out in our super-slick kit for the big day.
After a restful sleep last night and a generous breakfast this morning, in our tres, tres cool hotel Mama Shelter, we were physically and mentally prepared for the half-marathon. The sun shone, Paris was as beautiful as always and the Semi de Paris event organisers had everything down to a tee, from mid-way fruit and water supplies, to bag checks and post-race ponchos.
Au revoir Paris, we will definitely see you next year. And this time we will be even speedier!
