Summer is upon us and whether you’re sitting in Polzeath or lounging on a beach in Phuket these exercises are the perfect opponent to any ice cream treat that keeps you cool.

Chocolate? Fruity? Creamy or Light? Whatever your preference we’ve done the maths so you can have your gelato, and eat it too!

These exercises are meant to be taken at a leisurely pace. So don’t forget to pack your trainers so you can indulge and leave any post- Cornetto guilt behind.

Treat - Twister

Activity – Beach Stroll

Twisters are already a guilt-free, low calorie treat that leave us at EBT feeling a little nostalgic, so a stroll down the beach seems a perfect match. Walking on the sand barefoot requires more exertion therefore burning around 50 percent more calories than on hard surfaces. Sand is also a natural exfoliant, so a wander down the sand is nature’s pedicure that will leave feet feeling smooth. Add to the calm by walking at sunset so you can avoid the sun’s strongest rays and enjoy the views.

Treat - Solero Exotic

Time – 15 mins

Swimming is known as the ultimate all rounder when it comes to exercise as it tones your whole body. Enjoy your Solero by the pool and you’re already a stone throw away from burning it off. Choose your stroke to not only burn off those extra calories but to tone your chosen trouble spots. Our very own Olympian Rebecca Adlington suggests that for svelte arms and a toned stomach a variation of Freestyle and Front Crawl would do the trick. For a taut derriere and legs choose Breast Stroke, which has added health benefits for the heart and lungs. If you’re up for it go for the tricky Butterfly to lift the chest and upper arms. Finally, if you’re aiming for defined shoulders then Back Stroke is ideal.

We’ve seen their abs in those lyrca outfits and all of a sudden beach volleyball seems rather appealing, and now we think about it, it looks fun too. A perfect holiday activity, gather your friends and get them on the pitch with you – if they don’t seem eager at first we’re sure that the Frozen Yoghurt après-beach treat will entice them.

It’s hard to go anywhere abroad and not find yourself walking past a conveniently located Haagen Dazs counter and who’s eye doesn’t wander to their smorgasbord of delicious flavours? Counter that indulgence by unleashing your competitive side on the tennis court and burn away the splurge whilst toning problem areas such as legs, glutes and arms.

Time - 40mins

We believe at EBT that on holiday you should never have to deprive yourself and a little bit of what you fancy is therapy in itself. So, although this chocolaty treat is higher in calories than your average ice lolly, you can burn these off by going for an early morning or late evening jog. It’s not only a great cardiovascular workout it’s also a great way to find your way around a new place and explore.

Ditch the taxi and spend a day cycling around instead. To and from the beach, to the village or port and back, even hop on a street bike in London or Paris, by the time the day is out you can reward yourself with a delicious treat without the guilt.
