The Eat Yourself Young plan, £12.99 [Quadrille] promises you will feel healthier and leaner as well as looking years younger just by changing the way you approach food. What’s more the diet doesn’t require you starve yourself or eat anything faddy. Intrigued, ELLE spoke to the author Elizabeth Peyton Jones to share her secrets...
‘Eat Yourself Young is based around stabilising five normal body processes which, when disrupted or overloaded by bad eating habits, stress or lifestyle, can become dysfunctional’ explains Elizabeth.
These are:digestion/elimination, inflammation, the body’s acid/alkaline level, hormonal balance, and the metabolic process called oxidation. The trick is to recognise which processes are out of balance in your body; the book helps you identify these ‘dysfunctional processes’ and offers solutions.
But, if you don’t want to get that specific and you simply want to boost your overall health, Elizabeth recommends adding the following onto your shopping list, ‘up your intake of enzymes, bioflavonoids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants by eating foods such as beetroot, squash and other veg, lemon, red beans, avocado, grains and fats like seeds and nuts, as well as herbs and spices like parsley, garlic and turmeric’.
