ELLE TESTS
SKIN BRIGHTENERS
By Amy Lawrenson
In winter not only do you have to put up with miserable weather but also freezing winds and central heating can play havoc with your skin. A schizophrenic complexion is not uncommon, but with spring just around the corner a blemish-free, dewy glow is what you really need! So to help, we put six skin brightening creams to the test to find out if they could sort out our unruly complexions in time for the summer, here's the results...
Instant Radiance Moisturiser, £30.50 for 50ml by Decleor
This light lotion was lovely to apply, it felt really smooth and absorbed into my skin quickly and easily, so it was perfectly prepped to apply my usual moisturiser over the top and my skin felt more amazing than ever! Unless you're prone to dry skin Decleor's moisturiser would do the trick on its own. The best bit about this cream was it's light, summery smell - it reminded me of holidays in the sun, which cheered me up even though it's February! I quickly noticed a difference but by lunchtime the brightening effect had worn off and my skin looked its tired old self again, the immediate difference was amazing - I just wish it had lasted! I think you can’t beat a decent night sleep for radiant skin. Although, that’s easier said than done and this cream gave my skin a well needed early morning pick-me-up!
Best for: A quick boost
Verdict: 3/5
