Normally, we sip morning tea at our desk while catching up on emails, so a change of scenery is always welcome. Today, our surrounds have been transformed, namely to the plush blue sofa of Kate Upton’s apartment in the Hamyard Hotel. Why? To share everything with the model and face of Bobbi Brown makeup; skincare tips, makeup tricks, even a pot of green tea.

How do you keep your skin looking perfect?

I have a facialist in New York. Her name is Anne and she works at Advanced Skincare. She introduced me to this skincare brand called Osmosis, which I use at home in between visits. It’s amazing.

How do you stay in shape?

I try to work out as much as I can. I like to do workouts that are lengthening and specific for women’s bodies and also lightweights, bands and bodyweights, but I mean, the most important thing is eating healthy.

Is there anything that Bobbi Brown has showed you that you’ve been like, ‘wow this incredible’?

The difference that layering with more than one type of mascara makes. It's such a big difference and never clumps.

What’s the biggest tip you’ve learnt from working with makeup pros?

Bobbi’s big on mixing products, like using the cream blush on your lips and your cheeks and using the shimmer brick as a shadow as well as a blush. I picked up those because it makes using makeup more convenient. You don’t have to pack as much into your makeup bag.

Do you have any quick makeup tricks?

Yeah, I do a three step smokey eye. I use two different browns, so a lighter brown and a darker brown, and I cover my eye in the light brown and then just smudge the outter corner of my eye with the dark brown. It takes like five seconds.

Do you use a brush or do you do it with your fingers?

I use a brush or a blender. It’s like a little peak egg and it blends stuff really well. I think it’s easier and it’s not so messy.

How do you make your lips look fuller?

Line the outside with a pencil and put lipgloss in the middle.

What products do you rely on for everyday makeup?

There was this makeup artist who said always start with pretty and then build on from there; like if you want to go smoky or crazy, whatever, but just start with pretty. It really stuck with me. I think starting with really great skin is starting with pretty, so a really nice foundation, a nice blush, maybe a bronzer, something like that.

If you’re in a rush and you don’t have time to do all of your makeup, what do you quickly do?

There are probably three things that I do every day, actually, maybe four. I even out my skin with foundation, put on mascara, brush my eyebrows and do a lip because it makes me look dressier instantly.

Are brows a big thing for you?

Yeah, I brush them up every day to make them look fuller. I would like to do them properly everyday but if I’m in a time crunch, I’ll just brush them.

Do you prefer to do your lips or eyes?

Whatever works with the outfit. If I was wearing a little black dress, I would do a lip but then if I’m wearing more of a colourful thing, I would do a smoky-eye… sometimes, maybe both.

Together?

Yeah, for sure! Break the rules. I feel like, you know, you dress for photographs and it all kind of dies out with a flash anyway. When you go out at night you can do two together, right? During the day it might be too much.

Do you ever see someone else’s makeup and you’re just like, ‘I want to do that next’?

Yeah, yours! I get very inspired by makeup, it’s my creative outlet and you know, women are so creative with makeup. Like, almost any time I see someone, I’m like, I’m going to copy your exact outfit, exact makeup, exact hair, but I think that most of us do that to all women, it’s fun.

So true! I do that same thing. Tomorrow I’m going to have your makeup

I’m wearing yours. We’re going to switch makeup!
