Dodgy fringes - we've all had them...and the primary school class pic that cemented our regret in photographic history.

That day you learn your mum is not in fact a hairdresser, but something more akin to a butcher with a pair of gardening secateurs and your freshly trimmed too-short wonky fringe is the proof.

You thought you'd never go back, that the dreaded primary school fringe days were over. But then came this year's uber glam BAFTA red carpet with everyone from Bryce Dallas-Howard and Felicity Jones, to the epitome of classy-sexy Penelope Cruz rocking out their very own school girl bangs.

Say what?! Yup, the centre-parted 'I've never even touched a straightening iron let alone actually used it' fringe is back.

Let's examine the evidence.

BAFTA Fringe No.1 - Penelope Cruz

Proving a lob-meets-fringe situation totally works, Penelope's bedhead split fringe adds an edge of 'I just woke up like this' to her major Versace dress.

The Pro Opinion:

'This is the modern way to work straight hair using a combination of grit and natural texture to create movement. The key is to use texture spray on the fringe for a slightly dishevelled look.' Sam Burnett, Founder And Creative Director of Hare & Bone

BAFTA Fringe No.2 - Bryce Dallas-Howard

Deciding hair straighteners might actually be a good idea, Bryce's centre-parted bangs manage to bypass boyband curtain territory and work their way into sassy face-framing genius.

The Pro Opinion:

'This is the perfect combination of clean, polished and textured. Blow-dry the fringe with a small barrel brush for a soft, smooth finish.' Sam Burnett, Founder And Creative Director of Hare & Bone

BAFTA Fringe No.3 - Felicity Jones

The Pro Opinion:

'This look is all about using the right product to get that high shine glossy finish. Blow-dry the fringe smooth then work through with a smoothing creme and hair serum or oil before tucking longer pieces behind your ears.' Sam Burnett, Founder And Creative Director of Hare & Bone
