OK, so the show wasn't solely hooked around the hair (there was also some clothes and accessories, also Pat McGrath doing the most beautiful highly-lit skin we've seen all season, more on that later), but it was a shining beacon in the usual midst of New York Fashion Week backstage chat.

Supreme hair stylist Guido Palau talked us through the hair inspiration and how to achieve it, all the while clutching the £11 hair tool behind the look. In his words 'please don't forget about your Tangle Teezer'.

Yep, the unassuming plastic hairbrush is part responsible for the 'polished and perfectly undone' softly tousled looks. Both focused on the texture . 'The more innocent and simple the hair, the more effective it is.'

Guido started both looks with a very clean texture, washing the models hair in Redken Clean Maniac Cleansing Cream shampoo, then used the Tangle Teezer to comb it through. ' The teeth flatten the cuticles of the hair so it gives a great shine.'

He then added texture with Redken Wind Blown (an ELLE favourite), and either gathered hair into a 'childlike half up, half down pony with bits falling out'. Or a modern, simple middle-parted ponytail, with a double loop of hair so it gives a relaxed undone-ness. The result of both was effortless, innocent and utterly wearable, which is something we're seeing a lot of this season.

At last! Good news for the girl on the street - a season of beauty ideas that will look good on her.

For makeup Pat McGrath focused on skin, since Victoria asked for 'a glamorously glossy lid balanced with fresh, flawless 'post-spa' skin. This look was very fresh, very natural.'
