The Benefits of Hair Oil

Everything you need to know about your June Issue gift

You're probably already reaping the rewards of our ELLE June Issue gift, Percy & Reed's No Oil Oil, £14, but if the whole idea of hair oil is completely foreign to you, we're here to help.

What does hair oil do?

Your scalp has its own way of generating natural oil to provide nourishment to growing hair, but once grown, the ends can suffer from dryness and splitting. This is because right before your hair splits, there’s no lipids holding it together, so you need to replace them. Most of us know that hair oil leaves our hair glossy and shiny, but it also adds protection and nourishment by sealing the cuticle.  In fact, this particular one is enriched with frizz-fighting pomegranate seed oil and pro vitamin B5 to help strengthen it.

How should I use it?

Work 1-2 drops of the oil through towel dried hair. Apply from root to tip, then style as normal. If you do want to apply hair oil when your hair is dry, only do it from the mid lengths to the ends.

Are there any tips for flyaways?

Warm the oil in the palm of your hand and lightly run a large blusher brush over the oil.  Apply to the hair with the brush, smoothing any flyaways.
