Here session stylist Philippe Tholimet, first assistant to Wella's Global Creative Director Eugene Souleiman, gives us an insight into his fashion week diary sharing all the backstage news, gossip and hair trends from the spring/summer '13 fashion shows...

The Show: Peter Som
The Place: New YorkTime: 7th September, 7amThe Look: At Peter Som the models looked strong and carefree sporting spontaneous colours in patchy random strands amongst their hair, with a natural texture. If you like easy styles then you're in luck as the best way to create this look is with your hands to add the organic natural feel to your locks.
The Show: DKNY
The Place: New York
Time: 9th September, 10.30am
The Look: Entering off the street for the show, the vibe is already laid back and calm, exactly like the hair! The style is cool and simple with a low side parting and a little high at the crown to give a more natural shaggy look. Easy to achieve and will give you a effortlessly chic style!
The Show: Y3
The Place: New York
Time: 9th September, 1pm
The Look: Going back to basics, the classic ponytail is having its moment in the spotlight. At Y3 sporty ponytails were tight at the back off the neck and has a wet look on the top and the sides adding to the overall natural image.
The Highlight: David Beckham popped backstage to escape crowds and have a peak at what was going on.

The Look: Sleek hair was worn along the runway as a breeze softly blew the models hair adding to the natural vibe and free-flowing style
The Show: Donna Karan
The Place: New York
Time: 10.30am
The Look: With a romantic feel in the air, the hair looked sharp and modern with a disheveled finish, leaving the girls looking mysterious yet beautiful. Plastic head pieces were added to the messy updos to create a darker feel to the romantic style.
The Show: Tory Burch
The Place: New York
Time: 11th September, 5.30am
The Look: A carefree approach to hair style with loose plaits that give a completely organic and natural feel. Tory stated that she wanted the collection to symbolise somebody who has travelled a lot and places she had previously visited.

The Look: To match the expensive black and gold collection, hair extensions were prepared the night before the show to create long, ropey sleek braids that oozed style. They were stitched to the girls on the day of the show with each rope sat high on the crown to add to the dramatic and striking look.
The Show: Sass & Bide
The Place: London
Time: 14th September, 5pm
The Look: Reynia Xydis headed the hair team for this show, combining both masculine and feminine elements, the girls embodied strong females with a low but on trend ponytail.
The Highlight: Twiggy took a visit and popped backstage after the show to see everyone!
The Show: Nicole Farhi
The Place: London
Time: 16th September, 7am
The Look: With the collection being natural, pure and feminine, the hair stands out against the clothes with a more striking element and it is defined with graphic and conceptual elements.
The Highlight: Anna Wintour went backstage to add to all the excitement and further pack out the room
The Show: Acne
The Place: London
Time: 16th September, 2pm
The Look: More sleek ponytails to approach the catwalks, tied tightly back low and sleek leaving the girls oozing strong confidence and looking cool and calm. An easy, simple look but beautiful regardless. A good style if you're stuck for time in the morning!

Time: 21st September, 9am
The Look: The clothes were clean cut with sleek ponytails to match the sharp visual appearance. Hair pieces were added to all the girls to thicken their ponytails and to inject some more excitement into the hair.
The Show: Ter et Bantine

Time: 22nd September, 2pm
The Look: The clothing collection was beautiful and conceptual, therefore Eugene wanted the hair to look the opposite - untidy and raw. So from the back, the hair was fastened in a messy chignon and then a few strands were pulled out to add an edge and to give some roughness to the overall style.

The Place: Milan
Time: 23rd September, 1pm
The Look: The collection was sporty and futuristic and Eugene wanted the girls to look as if they had been wearing a cycling helemet for a while and just taken it off. He worked on two different textures, with the hair being close to the head at the base and quite free at the bottom.
The Show: Rochas
The Place: Paris
Time: 26th September, 2pm
The Look: With most of the girls covered with headscarves and bonnets, there was little to work with, so Eugene created a low ponytail that was pulled out from the top of the elastic like a country girl would wear it, a sensitive look with fly away hair around the face.
The Show: Anna Demeulemeester
The Place: Paris, Couvent des Cordeliers
Time: 27th September, 9am
The Look: The collection was dark with minimal and sharp hairstyles to match. The hair was down and straight on both sides of the face with a triangular middle section, starting from the top and going down to the nape, flattened to the scalp to give the girls a small head and to strengthen the look of their outfits.
The Highlight: Nastya Kusakina opened the show..Showing some leg!!
The Show: Issey Miyake
The Place: Paris
Time: 28th September, 8am
The Look: A unique fabric which makes the material bouncy was used on the clothes and that is what inspired Eugene with the hair. He wanted to recreate that bounciness with the hair and made sure it was textured and raw in a tight mid-height ponytail. The dual textures, hard and soft, made each girl look unique and strong.
The Show: Tsumori Chisato
The Place: Paris
Time: 29th September, 8am
The Look: If you love a top knot then this is certainly a trend for you. Easy and fun to do, the hair at this show was very clean and flat, close to the head with a middle parting and then finalised with a tight knot on top of the head. To add to the fun, laid back style, huge glasses were worn by some girls to finish the quirky look.
