The look: Summer waves
Hair stylist: Sam McKnight
Key products: Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish Spray, £21.50, and Batiste Dry Shampoo, £2.99 at Boots.
Top tip: Tong random sections (alternating from small to big) of hair with a large barrelled curling wand. Shake out the curls and brush through with your fingers to get this naturally lived-in finish.
The look: Tough ponytail
Hair stylist: Guido
Key products: Redken Diamond Oil Spray (out Dec) and Mess Around 10 Cream-Paste, £11.16 at lookfantastic.
Top tip: Drench your hair in the oil spray to get a wet-look effect, then rake it into an easy, rough ponytail. Guido cut the models’ baby hairs around their hairlines to look like subtle sideburns.
The look: Side swept ponytail
Hair stylist: Sam McKnight
Key products: Oribe Dry Texturising Spray, £39 at Space NK, and Sebastian Hairspray, £10.40 at BeautyBay, to achieve a lived-in texture.
Top tip: Choose the placement of your side parting, then comb your hair over and hold a hairdryer over the part to set it into position.
The look: Swan neck
Hair stylist: James Pecis
Key products: Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse, £14.85 at lookfantastic, and hairspray.
Top tip: Once you’ve blow-dried your hair with the smoothing mousse, tie a scarf around your neck and leave your hair to set to get this bend. Add kinks to the ends of your hair with tongs and finish with hairspray for hold.
The look: Super-sized accessories
Hair stylist: Sam McKnight
Key products: Kérastase Mousse Bouffante, £16.57 at lookfantastic, Oribe Dry Texturising Spray, £39 at Space NK, and leather accessories designed by Karl Lagerfeld.
Top tip: Apply mousse to damp hair and rough dry with your fingers to get a dishevelled texture. Next, apply the dry texturiser spray from root to tip and fasten into a loose, messy ponytail before adding the accessory.
Hair The look: Freshly washed bounce
Hair stylist: James Pecis
Key products: Moroccanoil Root Boost, £18.85, and Hairspray, £17.25.
Top tip: Use a one and a half inch curling tong to curl your hair away from your face, and to add waves from mid-lengths to ends. Once curled, brush it all out and keep on brushing to get this static fullness and bounce.
The look: Glazed bun
Hair stylist: Paul Hanlon
Key products: Moroccanoil Mousse, £18.85, to prep the hair and Shine Spray, £17.25, to finish.
Top tip: Once you’ve blow-dried your hair with the mousse, comb your hair back into a tight, clean bun. Spray the shine spray onto your hands before slicking over the top of the bun and tie around the silk scarf.
The look: Barbie Dolls
Hair stylist: Paul Hanlon
Key Products: Four nylon synthetic wigs per model, sewn together to create one super-sized wig.
Top tip: Paul and his team brought 150 wigs back from New York, collectively weighing in at 90 kilos. The models had quick head massages after the show as they’d been pulling on their hair. We don’t recommend trying this one at home.
The look: Prettified cornrows
Key products: ELLE loves Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish Hairspray, £21.50, and Aveda Pure Abundance Hairspray, £16.50.
Top tip: Create three to four French plaits, leaving space in-between each, then bundle them into a rough bun at the nape of your neck.
Emilio Pucci
The look: 70’s oversized crimp
Hairstylist: Orlando Pita
Key products: L’Oreal Paris Elnett, £6.60, Osis Dust It Mattifying Powder, £9.80, and L'Oreal Professionnel Wild Stylers Crepage De Chignon, £14.99 (at lookfantastic).
Top tip: To keep the waves flat rather than voluminous, use a pair of straightening irons to create the wave. Section off your hair and take even one-inch sections and alternate holding the irons left and right.
Marni
The look: Stylish sideburns
Hairstylist: Paul Hanlon
Key products: Fekkai Coiff Paste, L’Oreal Paris Elnett Hairspray, £6.60, and TIGI Catwalk Sea Salt Spray, £14.35.
Top tip: Apply the paste in sections around your hairline, and blow dry it in so it liquefies. Use the salt spray on the ends of your hair for a very matte finish.
