Kate Bosworth always looks polished and chic and we loved her take on the one-sided big barrel curls seen at Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s a/w09 show. Luigi Murenu, Global Creative Consultant at John Frieda , who created the look says, ‘the beauty of this classic look is that it suits all face shapes and hair types, softly framing and flattering the face. Be generous with product as the hair needs to be heavy to be moulded into shape. Apply mousse from root to ends and blow dry until 100% dry. Use heated rollers , winding sections of hair down either side of the head, and one row going backwards from the forehead, over the crown, down the nape of the neck. Remove rollers, loosen the curl by combing through with your fingers and crate a low side parting by tucking one side behind your ear.’

At the Teen Choice Awards in LA we loved Leighten Meester ’s simple, toned down version of Twenty8Twelve ’s grungy plaits. Resident ELLE.TV hair stylist Luke Hersheson says ‘rather than being tough and ‘London’, this hair style has been made more glamorous for the red carpet. Everything is less harsh, the braid isn’t a scalp braid, the quiff is softer and not as high, it is much smoother and glossier. Use Gloss Control, £9.45 by Techni Art to finish the style’.

A simple bun like Jessica's is easy to create at home, but to get the sweeping, draped side parting and hairpin detail 'you have to go see a great hairdresser' explains Eugene Souleiman, who created this look for Donna Karan. If you want to try it at home 'use hair pins as an accessory to decorate the hair, slide the hairpins in at an angle. Do not press them all the way into the hair, so they extend out from the hairshape.'
