Bond Girls are beautiful, confident and fabulously alluring. Sometimes scantily clad, always curvy in just the right places, their hairstyles have become as legendry as their tongue-in-cheek names (who can forget Pussy Galore?)
From the blonde bombshell waves of Honey Ryder aka Ursula Andres in Dr No, to the dark sultry up-do’s of Eva Green’s Vesper Lynd, outwitting Mr Bond is an impossibly glamorous affair.
In honour of the latest Bond film, Skyfall (opening nationwide on the 26th October), we’ve rounded up the best ever Bond girl looks and asked hair guru Adam Reed for tips on how to recreate them.
So which Bond Girl’s style do you fancy trying? And let us know your favourite @ellebeautyteam
Big and bouncy
• Prep damp hair with Percy & Reed Abundantly Bouncy Volumising Mousse £12.00, before blow-drying to work body and lift throughout the root area.
• Set your hair with heated rollers, try Babyliss Thermo Ceramic Heated Rollers £30.00, and spray each section of hair with Sebastian Professional Shaper Zero Gravity £14.50 before winding the roller.
• Let your hair totally cool down before moving on to the next step.
• Remove the rollers and spray a Mason Pearson brush (they give your hair a luxurious shine) with Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hairspray £12.75, and back-brush at the crown area of your head before brushing through the rest of your hair.
• Finish with a light shine spray or gloss, try Percy & Reed Quite Frankly Finishing Polish £4.00. Add a 60’s style Alice Band and you’re done
Sexy twist
• Apply Percy & Reed Quite Wonderfully Wavy Texturizing Spray £14.00 and Volumising No Oil Oil £14.00 to damp hair and blow-dry into your hair using a large barrel brush to work volume into the roots.
• Once your hair is dry, spray a Pro Tip Dressing brush £8.00, with Oribe Dry Texturing Spray £38.00 and back-brush through the roots of your hair.
• Next, brush the front of your hair into a side parting and brush the rest towards the back of your head, rolling it into a messy, vertical ‘French Pleat’ and secure in place with bobby pins.
• Finish with a firm-hold hairspray
Classic up-do
• Warm a small amount of John Frieda Secret Agent Flawless Finishing Crème £5.49 in your hands and pull your hair back into a high pony tail, tie with a fabric covered hairband, then work the polish over the surface of your hair to smooth any flyaways.
• Spray your hairbrush with Pantene Ice Shine Hairspray £2.99 and gently back brush the ponytail to add soft volume.
• Wind your ‘fluffed-up’ ponytail into a loose, large spiral at your crown, and fold the ends up and under, tucking them into the hairband, secure with a couple of bobby pins once you’re happy with the shape.
• Finish the style with Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray £37 to reduce fluff and frizz.
Soft and wispy
• Separate your hair into sections and smooth with a straightening iron such as the Babyliss Boutique Salon Control 235C Straightener £99.99, working from the mid lengths to ends only. Spray each section of hair with Percy & Reed Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray £12.00 to protect and add hold.
• Once you have worked the irons through your hair, pull the top section back to below the crown and secure using a barrette clip.
• Let a few whips of hair fall loose at your temples to soften the style and finish with Sebastian Halo Mist £17.90 to add a light gloss.
Retro pony
• Apply Percy & Reed Superstar Supersized Bodyfying Cream £14.00 to damp hair and dry into the hair using a barrel brush, try Acca Kappa £19, make sure that you add a strong centre part before drying.
• Once dry gently backcomb your hair through the crown section to add a light padding and then pull into the nape of your neck and secure with a hair elastic.
• Take a small strand of hair and wrap around to disguise the band, spray a bobby pin with an ultra-firm hairspray such as Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce £12.75 and secure behind the band.
