Step three: Use matte Kirby grips (they stay have more hold than shiny ones) to secure you hair firmly to the root of your hair. ‘The bottom of each grip should be touching your scalp, your aim is to anchor your hair to your head,’ explains Adam.

Step four: Work across both sides until your hair is fixed in place. The grips should form a V-shape (see picture). These grips form the foundation of your hairstyle so it should feel tight and secure.
Step fourThe 1940s have been a big influence on this season’s fashion and beauty trends, but it’s worth finding tricks to bring the look up-to date (unless you’re off to a fancy dress party, of course). At Miu Miu, Guido nodded to the Victory Roll hairstyle but gave hair an edgy, grungy texture and a different, more low-key shape – instantly creating a fresh, modern look. Here hair stylist Adam Reed guides you step-by-step to create a Victory Roll (complete with its signature V-shape) but keeps things modern with a pretty, wispy, dishevelled texture; perfect ‘special occasion’ hair.
