After last season’s love affair with the 1970s, autumn saw a new era ushered in, with designers falling in love with all things sixties and sensual. For a less overt take on the decade’s kittenish sex appeal look to the likes of Celine and Peter Som where all it took to reference was a little teasing at the crown and exaggerated height. Subtle influences continued at Doo Ri with a heavy, Marianne Faithfull-esque fringe and at Daks where an ultra low side parting prevailed. But it also became more literal; at Donna Karan buns were fat and positioned high on heads and at Alberta Ferretti coquettish sweeping fringes were accessorised with low knots, while at Bottega Veneta and Jean Paul Gaultier hair was teased and backcombed into frothy statement beehives.
