There was undoubtedly a minimalist vibe in the air this season with small, shiny heads being the buzzword on many a designer’s lips. The master of the neat knots, Guido Palau (and Redken’s Creative Director FYI) was responsible for many of our favourite glossy styles; the architectural, lacquered Marcel-wave edged (phew, there’s a mouthful) knots he created at Prada being a particular highlight. At Versace he got creative with PVC squares that he looped over low buns to mirror the vinyl finish on hair, an edgy antidote to perfected, polished complexions. At Gucci hair stylist Luigi Murenu slicked hair into low swept side parts before twisting into plaited buns (the epitome of poolside glamour if ever there was one) while at Chloe he lubricated ballerina knots with shine spray for a sleek, masculine finish.
