Hair stylist Malcolm Edwards is master of ‘the twist’ and backstage at London Fashion Week he single-handedly sparked this new trend, creating no less than four beautiful, intricate and inspiring versions during the spring/summer 2010 shows. At Matthew Williamson a classic bun was updated with a rope braid, while at Amanda Wakeley he reflected the draping of the fabric in architectural twists. At Issa , inspired by the Carnival mood, plaits were sculpted on top of the head with coloured fabric woven through. Several shows also played around with dual hair textures, creating an interesting contrast between wet-look and dry. At Marios Schwab fistfuls of gel were applied before hair was scraped back, while at Roksanda Illincic wet look hair close to the head contrasted with loose waves through the lengths of the hair.
