Plaits, rope braids and fishtail plaits all made an appearance on the Milan catwalks. Odile Gilbert masterminded a beautiful summer hairstyle at Moschino with a plait hairband working its way into a plait 'chignon' at the nape. At Antonio Marras , Eugene Souleiman pulled hair into a side ponytail before dividing into two sections, twisting into a rope braid and pinning across the head. In the midst of a very hot and bustling backstage at Just Cavalli , Malcolm Edwards was attempting the ambitious task of three different hairstyles on different models. The inspiration? Groupies at a rock concert. The hairstyles? One look involved a rope braid, the other two fishtail plaits at each side of the head joining at the back by a feather extension.

Hair was a tale of two styles in Milan. At Moschino and Antonio Marras we saw a mix of sleek and braided. While at Etro Eugene Souleiman created a style that from the front looked like a high-shine, wet-look up-do and from the back appeared to be a dry ponytail with pieces falling out to one side. At Jil Sander hair was pulled into a sculptural up-do thanks to Guido Palau. From the front the hair was sleek, but to the back (with the help of a roly poly) hair was rolled under to create volume and curvature. Paul Hanlon gave plaits at Iceberg slicked one side of the hair for a boyish, combed look; on the other hair was left pretty, wispy and flyaway.
