If there was one trend that united hairstylists across the board during A/W11 it was the humble ponytail. Elevated from its simple, everyday status it suddenly became the style to covet and was seen in many different guises. At Valentino an elegant black ribbon made it ultra girly whereas the strictness and severity at Louis Vuitton hinted towards a more dominatrix edge. Master of the pony, Guido Palau, churned them out at almost every show he worked on, styling Celine’s version with a dry, matte texture and height at the crown but Emanuel Ungaro’s with a sleek, fetishist finish. Whether you prefer yours placed high or low, with a side or a centre parting, one thing’s for sure - it’s time to make the ponytail your newest beauty crush.
