Side partings
For SS12 there’s no easier way to update an old season hairstyle, than pairing it with a simple side parting. Just think of it as the statement necklace to your LBD – this season just a tiny tweak will add instant fashion kudos to everything from a simple ponytail to chic chignon. For the most part side sweeps lent a sleek finish to minimal styles, (look to Akris , Dries van Noten and Derek Lam for inspiration here) but they were also used to full effect when it came to adding extra detail too – at Peter Som strands of electric orange were woven through low side partings. Christopher Kane and Margaret Howell showed versions embellished with soft, wispy hairs that sat across foreheads, while Jonathan Saunders ’ offering had a Mod feel that beautifully echoed the winged 60s liner on models’ faces.
