Shine was the word of the season when it came to hair. ‘The glassy shine makes this feel like after-dark hair’ said hair stylist Guido Palau at Alberta Ferretti ; ‘it’s like the girls raked their hair up themselves before heading out for the night - it’s tough and sexy’ (try Vinyl Glam shine spray, £13.30, by Redken). Buns were the finish of choice at lots of shows where slicked hair were seen. At Jil Sander and Roberto Cavalli minimalism prevailed in the form of sharp partings and tight knots. It’s a versatile look too though - at Versace and Nina Ricci hair was saturated with product and scraped back while the ends were left dry and loose. Slicked hair even toughened up tumbling curls. At Alessandro Dell’Aqua 40s Veronica Lake waves were made modern with a deep, oiled side parting that mimicked an undercut, while waves at Alexander Wang looked sexy thanks to a wet-look top.
