There were two schools of thought when it came to the 70s styles on display this season. While Marios Schwab and Jean Paul Gaultier paid homage to music icon Joan Jett with wigs cut into spiky, oiled mullets, other designers showcased an altogether more feminine vision. At Roberto Cavalli and Versus the vibe was luxe hippy which meant adding lashings of super straight waist-grazing extensions for an expensive finish. At Blumarine hair stylist Sam McKnight played with the idea of ‘TV commerical’ hair for a look that perfectly embodied a sexy St-Tropez-meets-Studio-54 feel; at Gianfranco Ferre and Emilio Pucci hair stylist Luigi Murenu worked with tongs to create a slight bend in models’ hair, for a less literal and more modern take on the classic Farrah Fawcett ‘do.
