Hair this season was elegantly undone as hairstylists opted for styles that showcased a crumpled kind of luxury. At Karl Lagerfeld hairstylist Odile Gilbert purposefully squashed chignons until they sat flat and dishevelled against the back of models’ heads while models at Christopher Kane sported ‘done undone’ messy buns complete with wispy flyaways (according to hairstylist Paul Hanlon they were to look as though models had ‘had a fumble in the fields on the way to Church…’). At Dolce & Gabbana there was an artful randomness to the way in which hairstylist Eugene Souleiman pinned strands of hair into loose ponytails, with decadent gold slides providing a beautiful contrast. This juxtaposition of natural texture and embellishment was again explored at Carolina Herrera where hairstylist Orlando Pita wove strands of beads through low-slung French twists.
