Sign-up to become a card-carrying member of Sweaty Betty (which is free) and you can attend weekly free classes at your local store – there are 34 stores nationwide that double as clubs. Classes include Zumba, Pilates, boxing yoga and circuit training.
Lululemon’s new Covent Garden store offers free classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Barry’s Bootcamp trainer Shane Collins heads out on a 5-7k run every Saturday from 10am.
Then each Sunday there is a different Yoga workshop like Broga (yoga for men, although women are welcome) it’s described as ‘strong, intense and challenging’. Inversion – so you can perfect that headstand and Flow.
The Nike Training Club app is free and you can download it to your iPhone and take it to your gym, it’s like having a PT in your pocket.
But if you want a real life trainer then book in for NTC classes that happen weekly in various London locations, and Glasgow. There’s strength and interval training, run clubs, yoga and train to run classes. Be warned though they book up fast.

Three evenings a week the ASICS store on Oxford Street, near Marble Arch, holds hour-long running clubs. Monday is for beginners; Tuesday is the Speed Clinic, which involves drills like interval training, while Wednesday is all about technique with drills aimed at improving your technique and minimising potential injury. The classes are free but if you want to shower after towel hire if £5.
