Eating Disorder Awareness Week starts today. The annual event aims to bring awareness of eating disorders into the public eye as well as drawing attention to the resources and support that is available to those suffering. Project Heal are an organisation committed to raising treatment funds for those who cannot afford to seek treatment. Today they have launched a new social media campaign called #WhatMakesMeBeautiful.

The campaign has been shot by fashion photographer Arthur Belebeau and features women pictured next to their ownstatements on what makes them beautiful. 'It really was sparked by the frustration I have felt as a result of my simultaneous involvement in both the fashion industry and the eating disorder field,' says Liana Rosenman, Project HEAL cofounder. 'I have never met a woman who doesn’t struggle with some sort of insecurity, no matter what she looks like — myself included. But upon further introspection, I realised that the most beautiful people in my life are those with big hearts, fiery minds and warm spirits. And as I went on to discover, that is far from an unpopular opinion.'

You can see the moving images people have shared on Project Heal’s social media accounts.

This campaign has been launched alongside their recovery campaign designed to support and educate people on recovering from an eating disorder. It shares stories from those who are recovered alongside motivational markers of recovering from an eating disorder. You can find out more and access their resources here.
