Kate Moss's ascent to supermodel stardom began in 1993 with Calvin Klein Obsession, a fragrance that traffics in the singular feeling of infatuation.

Rather than replicate young romance in a studio, Klein sent an 18-year-old Moss and then boyfriend, 20-year-old photographer Mario Sorrenti, to Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands for 10 days. The couple returned from their trip with hundreds of black and white images, the making of one of Calvin Klein's most iconic campaigns to date.

'I would take pictures of her all of the time, and sometimes it drove her crazy, and other times she loved to be part of it. We had really good times. We were young, and I was never again so obsessed or so in love with photographing one person,' Sorrenti reminisces in a statement.

Twenty-Five years later, Calvin Klein Chief Creative Officer Raf Simons decided to open up Sorrenti's Obsession archives for Obsessed, his first fragrance with the brand, rather than shoot a new campaign. Out this month, the women's scent evokes lovers past (in the best way possible), with musky lavender.

'We thought about a scent that could reflect such an idea of memory and desire for today. Of male and female, of the memory of somebody else on your skin. If one thing summed up Calvin Klein for us visually, it was Mario Sorrenti's Obsession campaign with Kate Moss,' Simons explains.

'We were young and it was passionate, and it was my first love. It's the kind of love that never happens again, really. I was obsessed with him,' Moss tells me over the phone. Naturally the mega-model's obsessions have evolved since then.

Below, she discusses the things that pique her interest these days: secret gardens, Gilmore Girls, Harry Styles, and a rosewater mist from Florence.

What are you obsessed with these days? Unlike many people in the public eye, we don't see you on social media.

At the moment I'm obsessed with Richard Burton and Liz Taylor.

Really?

Yes! There's an interview Rich Burton did with Michael Parkinson, who's a famous chat show host in England, and it's the most incredible interview with him and then I started just going on and finding other ones that they've done together. Their relationship—I mean, they were amazing. The interviews were so amazing. Anyone that comes over I'm just like, "you've got to see this!" And it's summer in England so—well summer-ish. It's really hot today so I'm sitting in the garden in London and I found this secret English garden, so I'm kind of obsessed with that at the moment. Going around visiting the gardens, even in London, that are secret and just amazing.

Do you need a key to get in?

You can go in, they're public. But I've never even heard of them. And I've been living in London for a long time, so I'm obsessed with that. And it's the time of year when all the clematis and the peonies and the rhododendrons. In this garden I went to see the other day, there are literally huge rhododendron. And it was coral and pink and red. So I'm obsessed with that.

What do you do in the garden? Do you bring a book?

Well, I'm sitting in my garden at the moment. I've got this garden in North London, I live in Highgate, and it overlooks the Heath, which is this huge park. And just a blanket and a bottle of wine and my music on my phone and that's it.

What music are you listening to at the moment?

I just love classics. My daughter's like, what's that? She knows all the new [music]. But I'm kind of old school [and] listen to Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie. And Prince. I've been listening to a lot of Prince because it's been a year [since he passed away]. So I've been listening to 'If I Was Your Girlfriend' and all those tunes.

Do you watch TV with your daughter?

Yeah! Of course. Well, we got into the Gilmore Girls, obviously, and we watched that back to back. And we sing the theme tune together. We like the Gilmore Girls. And then we just watched 13 Reasons Why together.

What did you think of it?

I liked it. When they were telling me, you see her commit suicide, I was like, what?! And they're watching? Kids and everything? I mean, I liked it. I suppose when kids can get that [way] and it's such a lonely place, so to see that it does happen and you're not the only one, I think it's really good for them to know that. That you can feel alone in a crowded room, kind of thing.

And we just started watching Archie, Veronica, and Betty… She put it on and I was like, "Veronica and Betty… that rings a bell." And Archie, oh my god, I used to read those comics when I was a kid. And it's based on the comics and it's a TV show on Netflix, I think. And then we watched a few of those. I love watching TV with my daughter.

Does your daughter try to shop from your closet? Is she into your style?

No, she is not into my style at all.

That's so crazy! Does she know that everyone else is?

Yes. She knows. She doesn't care. Really blasé about it.

That's really cool.

I get more starstruck than she does when Harry Styles comes over. I'm like, "Harry's coming!" And she's like, "whatever." I'm like, "but Harry's coming over!" She doesn't—she's too cool for school. I suppose when you're a teenager you have that phase.

How about beauty obsessions. What are you really loving at the moment?

My beauty obsession? It's Santa Maria rosewater. You put it on and you feel like you've been freshened up in the heat. It comes from Florence. It's amazing and basically it's been around for hundreds of years. The monks made it in Florence. And it's the same ingredients and everything and they still make it and it's beautiful. It's all glass and I'm obsessed with that.
