One of EBT’s favourite sun brands, Sisley’s latest product is a godsend for very sensitive skin or for anyone who needs a gentle introduction to very strong sun exposure (perfect for your first couple of days on the beach). As well as providing protection against UVA and UVB rays it’s full of soothing, moisturising ingredients like cucumber extract, shea butter and glycerine – just what’s needed for regenerating sun-stressed skin.

Chanel UV Essentiel SPF50, £38 at Boots.com

With everything you’d expect from a high protection product (it offers broad spectrum UV protection as well as vitamin E derivative to guard against free radicals), it also includes liquorice root to help prevent the formation of dark spots. Best of all though is the silky formula that sinks in create an invisible matte finish, so it can easily be worn under and over foundation for everyday coverage. A summer make-up bag must.

Decleor Protective Hydrating Milk for Body SPF30, £23.80

If you prefer your suncare with a botanical edge, look to Decleor’s range of hydrating milks. With UVA and UVB filters to ward against damage, each product also contains a DNA Protection Complex with extracts of vanilla and jasmine and rose essential oil to boost cell protection. Easily absorbed and with a feather-light texture it smells as gorgeous as you’d expect, making application a real pleasure.

La Prairie Ultra Protection Eye Lip Nose SPF40, £48 at Selfridges

A handbag and beach bag essential, this practical stick is all you need for those delicate, easily forgotten areas that can so easily burn. Not only does it provide a barrier against UVA and UVB damage, it contains humectants which draw in moisture, and butters (shea and jojoba) to replenish any dehydrated areas. Particularly good for anyone who’s prone to sun-sensitive cold sores too.
