<p>We braved the freezing New York temperatures and even a blizzard to investigate the emerging beauty trends for next season. And, as usual, the Big Apple didn’t disappoint.</p><p>Backstage we saw an eclectic mix of make-up looks, featuring everything from that all too familiar ‘no make-up, make-up’, to glitter bomb lips and grungy smoky eyes. </p><p>It’s still early days, with still three more cities to go, but we’re placing our bets on molten metal shades and earthy tones being big news for a/w 14.</p><p>Follow <a href="https://twitter.com/ELLEBEAUTYTEAM">@ELLEBEAUTYTEAM</a> on Twitter and <a href="http://instagram.com/elleuk/">ELLEUK</a> on Instagram for more backstage updates.</p>

<p><strong>Make-up Artist:</strong> James Kaliardos for Nars</p><p><strong>Look: </strong>Glitter Bomb Lips</p><p><strong>Inspiration:</strong> Childhood nostalgia with reference to fairytales.</p><p><strong>Key Product:</strong> Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Dolomites (out June) and a mix of Nars Lipstick in Deborah (out June) with art shop glitter.</p><p><strong>Tip:</strong> Create a thick base of the brown eyeshadow from the duo palette, going right up into the brows. Layer over the lilac shade in the centre of your lid and and on the inner corners of your eye. Pre-mix the lipstick and the glitter and apply using a fine art brush.</p>

<p><strong>Make-up Artist:</strong> Gucci Westman for Revlon </p><p><strong>Look:</strong> Day Smoky Eye </p><p><strong>Inspiration: </strong>Gucci wanted to recreate the exact shade of one of the furs in the collection.</p><p><strong>Key Product:</strong> Revlon's new <a href="http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Eyes/Eye-Shadow/Revlon-Colorstay-Shadowlinks.aspx">ShadowLinks in Cocoa, Greige, Chocolate and Charcoal</a>.</p><p><strong>Tip: </strong>Blend the four eyeshadow shades on the back of your hand before applying and sweep the pigment under your lower lash line for a smudgy, metallic smoky eye.</p>

<p><strong>Make-up Artist:</strong> Diane Kendal for Nars</p><p><strong>Look:</strong> Copper Undersmoke</p><p><strong>Inspiration:</strong> North West American girls; Patagonia comes to New York.</p><p><strong>Key Product:</strong> <a href="http://www.narscosmetics.co.uk/color/eyes/eyeliner-pencil/mambo">Nars Eyeliner Pencil in Mambo, £16,</a> swept underneath lower lash line and flicked out.</p><p><strong>Tip:</strong> Smudge in the liner using a blending brush and layer over Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Dolomites (out June) for definition.</p>

<p><strong>Make-up Artist:</strong> Pat McGrath for Max Factor</p><p><strong>Look: </strong>Subtle Flush</p><p><strong>Inspiration: </strong>Victoria loved the models exactly how they came into the fitting; cool and strong characters with little make-up.</p><p><strong>Key Product:</strong> Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation (out May) and Max Factor Masterpiece Transformer Mascara (out May) just at the roots.</p><p><strong>Tip: </strong>Pat removed foundation from the cheeks and the eyelids to expose the models natural colouring underneath. </p>

Add a slick off clear gloss over the top gives it that lived-in feel.</p>
