Best SS14 Beauty: Milan Fashion Week
Despite there still being some 'Raw Beauty' inspirations for make-up and some easy, effortless hair looks, Milan came up trumps with some highly covetable hair and make-up looks.
A bold lip at Frankie Morello, a soft green eye at Armani, Dolce & Gabbana's mesmerisingly beautiful wedding-appropriate hairstyle and a whole lot of highlighter later and we're back in ELLE HQ to bring you the lowdown on the beauty highlights from the Italian fashion capital...
Make-up Artist: Linda Cantello
Look: Soft, green blurred-out eye
Inspiration: The collection
Key Product: Two new Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Solo Eyeshadows (launching next May) - a lime green called Green Viper and a petrol blue called Scarob - were blended with Fluid Sheer to create a liquid.
Tip: Pat the colour on and around the eyes with your finger tips for a delicate wash of colour.
Make-up Artist: Pat McGrath
Look: Pretty Pink Lip
Inspiration: Sophia Loren and Greek theatre
Key Product: Dolce & Gabban Luminous Cheek Color in Rosebud, Apricot and Peach.
Tip: Forget bronzer Pat gave models a pretty summer glow using blush. She told ELLE this works best over sunkissed skin - so reserve this technique for your holidays.
Make-up Artist: Jessica Nedza
Look: All about skin!
Inspiration: A healthy glow
Key Product: MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle, £22
Tip: Buff this gold/silver highlighting powder onto high points of the face (cheekbones, bridge of the nose, Cupid's bow) for an instant boost.
Make-up Artist: Charlotte Tilbury
Look: Sepia tones and a 70s vibe
Inspiration: Gisele, a quintessentially Brazilian beauty
Key Product: MAC Face & Body Foundation
Tip: Used in either shade C5 or C7, depending on the model's complexion, the Face & Body Foundation warmed up the complexion without the need for tons of bronzer or fake tan.
Make-up Artist: Terry Barber
Look: Sunlit face and worn tomato-red lip
Inspiration: When girls wear make-up in sunlight
Key Product: Velvetease Lip Pencil in Lover's Lane that Terry Barber was roadtesting backstage
Tip: To ramp up the colour Terry was using a bold orange pigment dusted on top with a small brush.
Hairstylist: Luigi Murenu
Look: Athletic waves
Inspiration: Lauren Hutton (who has just gone for a jog)
Key Product: Mousse (dried into hair), shine spray and a 1 inch barrel tong.
Tip: Blow-dry the hair raking it through with fingers off the face, mist with Kerastase Gloss Appeal for a healthy, shiny finish.
Hairstylist: James Pecis
Look: Product-heavy messy braid
Inspiration: 'Think aliens and out-of-this world creatures,' said Pecis. 'There's something quite ethereal to this girl'.
Key Product: Moroccanoil Moulding Cream (out next year) - gives a damp look without it feeling wet.
Tip: Layer up the hair with gel before braiding messily. Finish with hairspray.
Make-up Artist: Lucia Pieroni
Look: Japanese-esque eye
Inspiration: The four natural elements and the black print in the collection
Key Product: Black gel liner
Tip: Along the top follow the line of the eye at the lashes, draw to the inner corner and then underneath along the lower lashline to the mid point. Don't apply mascara - it will detract from the liner, instead use a small fan brush to paint black liner onto the lashes for definition.
Hairstylist: Eugene Souleiman
Look: A mix of something raw and cool juxtaposed with something completely opposite.
Inspiration: An old Richard Avedon picture
Key Product: Acrylic hair extensions
Tip: Experiment! Soulieman used fake hair extensions as an accessory to create that stark contrast.
Make-up Artist: Tom Pecheux
Look: Angelic and virginal - dewy skin.
Inspiration: The good girl element to the collection
Key Product: Skincare - make sure skin is properly moisturised before attempting a dewy look.
Tip: You want a perfect complexion that doesn't look caked - use a brush, like the MAC 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush, to buff foundation into the skin.
