Last week, while Tanya was at ELLE HQ to do some filming for the ELLE Beauty Awards we asked her to do hold an impromptu Twitter Q&A on @ELLEUK. It was so popular that Tanya ran out of time. So she has answered a few that she wasn’t able to get to last week, from revealing her favourite tutorial to her five essential make-up buys, Tanya shares all...

@TanyaBurr @ELLEUK What skincare do you think is great for dry skin?
Embryolisse moisturiser is just amazing. Embryolisse is a French pharmacy brand and since using the moisturiser I haven’t looked back. It is super hydrating, keeps skin really smooth and soft, feels so comfortable and just sinks into the face! It comes in a big tube so will last you such a long time - definitely worth investing in if you have dry skin.

@TanyaBurr @ELLEUK What's your absolute fail safe, go-to look for summer? xxxx
A summer look to me is all about healthy, glowing skin with a pop of colour but using minimal products; something that is quick and simple to achieve. My fail safe look would have to be a radiant tinted moisturiser with lots of bronzer on the skin, powder run through the brows, then lots of mascara and maybe some eyeshadow lining the eyes, if I have time. To complete the perfect summer look, a hydrating and glossy coral lipstick looks beautifully summery - at the moment I am loving YSL’s Volupte Sheer Candy in number 10.

@TanyaBurr @ELLEUK what are your 5 holy grail makeup products? love from an australian viewer xo
This is a hard question, but a good one! I would definitely have to choose Jemma Kidd Light As Air foundation with Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturiser as my first choice. Mixed together, these two make for the most beautifully glowing and healthy skin appearance that I can absolutely rely on to deliver every time. I love a foundation look that feels light, looks natural and that gives a flawless finish. This is a winning combination.
I love Bobbi Brown Corrector, this is a peach toned concealer so it counteracts and covers any blueness under the eyes - it works wonders!
Next has to be By Terry Growth Booster Mascara. This is the perfect balance between natural yet defined and lengthened lashes. It is not the most voluminous or dramatic mascara, a look which I also love, but what is fantastic about it is that it actually works - the mascara conditions my lashes and makes them grow noticeably longer.
NARS Laguna bronzer would also make the cut because it gives you an instant healthy glow and the product itself is easy to work with because of its finely milled formula; it is just the perfect bronzed colour as well.
Lastly are the Rimmel ‘Stay Glossy’ lip glosses. These are a fairly new addition to my make-up bag but they are staying! The colour range is so pretty, they don’t feel at all sticky on your lips, which is a huge bonus and they all have a lovely shimmer through them which makes them perfect for summer!

@ELLEBEAUTYTEAM @TanyaBurr I would love for her to give tips on false eye lashes...can’t make them look natural
Choose a really natural looking pair - I would recommend MAC no.33’s, 7’s or 4’s and I would say you can’t go wrong with these! Remember you can always cut the lashes to make them fit your eye perfectly. Tanya @Tanya_elezar@TanyaBurr @ELLEUK what hair products do you use to make your hair soft and shiny?I love Redken Smooth Down condition to keep my hair tangle free and it gives my hair a wonderfully glossy feel once dry. For extra shine, hair oils are brilliant too - I have three favourites that I use in circulation and you can simply apply them to the ends of wet or dry hair whenever your hair needs a boost. At the moment I am loving Jo Hansford Illuminoil for a luxurious oil, I also swear by both the popular Morroccan Oil and also any of the Kerastase oils.

@ELLEUK @TanyaBurr what’s a great blush for a glowy and natural look that I can wear everyday?
My all time favourite glowing blush is MAC’s Springsheen and it has been for years. It’s the perfect peachy-pinky blush and is shot through with shimmer, yet it is not too overpowering. It is perfectly balanced for glowing and radiant, yet natural colour on the cheeks.

@ELLEUK @tanyaburr how do you keep your skin looking so healthy and flawless?
The two most important things for me is to cleanse and moisturise your skin both morning and night, I do this every day without fail. This ensures that my skin is constantly clean, yet nourished and hydrated which is what I need when I am constantly applying then taking off make-up. I love a cream or an oil cleanser, my two favourites are Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and the Eve Lom cleanser which is an oily one. My top two moisturisers are Embryolisse and Origins Mega Mushroom. These two steps in a skincare routine are key to healthy and clear skin.

@TanyaBurr @ELLEUK What is your cant-live-without budget beauty buy?
I love Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation as it gives me a radiant glow and feels lovely and smooth. A dream to blend with, it definitely has the quality of a high-end foundation! My other favourite budget beauty buy is the Maybelline gel liner which is so simple to work with; it has such a smooth formula which means it is effortless to glide across the lid!

@tanyaburr @ELLEUK What is your favourite and least favourite tutorial you've ever recorded? (Huge fan, you inspired to start my own YT!) xo
My favourite is definitely the Beyonce tutorial from her ‘Why Don’t You Love Me’ music video. I absolutely love this make-up look and it was so fun to re-create. My least favourite would be any of my earlier videos where the quality was much lower, as I started out filming on my webcam! Now I have upgraded to a DSLR camera with an amazing lens that I absolutely love.

@ELLEUK @tanyaburr if you wasn't a makeup artist, what would you have liked to do instead? x
I love my job so much and have always loved make-up so it’s really hard to think what else I would have liked to do. I love working for myself and doing my own thing and using my own ideas, so something like setting up my own coffee shop in a seaside town I could imagine!

@tanyaburr @ELLEUK Hey Tanya! Do you have a list of some products that you would recommend to beginners? (:
It is important to have a foundation suitable to your skin type and it is definitely worth the money if the foundation that works for you is from a high-end brand. I also think mascara is important too - you can get great affordable mascaras from drug store brands; I love Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ at the moment for long and voluminous lashes. A pretty lipgloss with subtle colour suitable for everyday is also a great staple product.
