Eat the right things
‘Wholemeal toast and honey has been scientifically proven to speed up the breakdown of the alcohol by-product that is responsible for the hangover symptoms we all know and despise. Avoid salt, caffeine and drink loads of water. With some luck, casual observers will never know quite how badly you’ve mistreated yourself’.

Hide!
‘There is no getting away from the fact that there will still be some trace of the good times left behind on your skin. So erase the evidence with some clever make-up. Erase the dark circles with a blend of Benefit Erase Paste, £19.50 (benefitcosmetics.co.uk ) and Vichy Dermablend, £15.50 (boots.com and Boots stores) - one for it’s light-reflective pigments, the other for its industrial-strength powers of concealment. And Dermablend any spots. A light coating of Lancome Teint Miracle, £27 (lancome.co.uk ) it’s non-comedogenic, so fantastic for those who suffer from break-outs. Finish with a dusting of Nars Orgasm blush, £20.50 (narscosmetics.co.uk ). Skip powder, unless you have very oily in the t-zone in which case, just there ...a palpable glow should now be visible’.
Blitz spots
‘A life of excess has a way of manifesting as a break-out around the chin and jawline when you least need it to (spots are like that). So take them in hand with the most powerful anti-inflammatory ingredients. Use a morning preparation with Salicylic Acid (look for products with 1-2%) and a night-time product with Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5% is sufficient). I like Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, £14.40 (beautybay.com ) and Obagi Therapeutic Lotion, £49 (faceandbody.co.uk )’.
Neutralise free radicals
‘Rich food, smoking, alcohol…all these sins lead to the generation of free radicals in the skin, which in the long run leads to premature ageing. So put a stop to this with a potent anti-oxidant serum. I like Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, £129 (johnandginger.co.uk ) or Shinso Essence, £212 (shinso.co.uk )’.
Exfoliate
‘Late nights lead to that ashy, dull complexion which is synonymous with January blues. I swear by the recuperative powers of exfoliation - preferably using a combination of chemical and physical exfoliation using beads and AHAs. My product of choice is Alpha H Micro Cleanse Exfoliant, £24.50 (HQhair.com ).’
