Catwalk Party Trend... Red Lips

If there’s one accessory you shouldn’t leave home without this Christmas it’s red lipstick. Seen on most catwalks from Bottega Veneta to Giles Deacon, it came in many guises from deep, pillar-box red at D&G and glossy claret tones at Emporio Armani to matte berry tones at Lanvin.
Our favourite incarnation was at Antonio Berardi where make-up artist Val Garland created dense, velvet-textured lips in bright, eye-popping shades of red. To get the look a complex process of layering pigment powder, lip liner and matte lipsticks was involved. ‘I was inspired by the texture of rose petals,’ said Garland, ‘but it’s definitely a sexy, real-woman kind of lip’. We couldn’t agree more.
