Liquid liner is the little black dress of the make-up world; classic, flattering and perennially cool, it grabbed attention this season in many different guises. In its most shy, demure form at Alberta Ferretti , Stella McCartney and Gianfranco Ferre it served to just add a little definition to eyes, a thin flick pushed right to the roots in a subtle 1960s way. At Louis Vuitton and Costume National though, the lines were elevated above socket creases for a more graphic, angular edge that chimed perfectly with the modernity of slicked heads and severe side partings. At Felder Felder thick slashes of ink stuck out at right angles from the corners of eyes, while at Kinder Aggugini make-up artist Sharon Dowsett embraced a wonky, haphazard line to add interest to otherwise polished, ladylike faces.
