Painterly daubs of pastels were the mark of choice for many of this season’s face painters. Even the most tricky tones were given the chalky treatment – canary yellow at Osman Yousefzada and coral at Narciso Rodriguez were made wearable thanks to a hit of softening white. At Alberta Ferretti a wash of apple green was buffed around lids while at Preen ice blue provided an alternative to a gold highlight. At Dries van Noten a fat line of pale mint was added below brows to add a soft strength to faces and at Mary Katrantzou a myriad of different saccharine shades were reminiscent of macaroons and were dusted on to lids as a focal point on bare faces. At Etro lavender was the star of the show, worked as it was in a circular shape all around eyes.
