No sooner is one season done and dusted than the next comes along. After veering between ladylike ponytails and 90s grungy goth lips in AW10, the new season ushered in an altogether more playful mood. Shifting back a few years the new decade to inspire us is undoubtedly the 1970s. At shows from New York to Paris you couldn’t move for disco glitter or bouncing Charlie-Girl curls and backstage notebooks were filled with inspirations from David Bowie to Brooke Shields and Jerry Hall. As an antidote to volume and excess there was a softer side to beauty too; wispy, romantic styles that framed faces softly and luminous, radiant skin peppered with highlights and not much else. So whether you choose to sport a Studio 54 face or something a little more au naturel, SS11 is the season for you.
