It's 6.45pm on a snowy Tuesday in New York and I've just finished interviewing the incredibly charming model and face of Dior's new Poison Girl EDT, Camille Rowe (@fingermonkey), in a cosy suite at cool downtown hotel, The Bowery (cocktails by the wood log fire are legendary, try one if you get the chance).

Naturally Camille looks like she's just returned from a weeklong spa-break with glowing skin to show for it, whereas I'm still wearing the make-up I slapped on at 6.30am this morning in a jet lagged haze. Interview done, it dawns on me I have to be out of the door in 15 minutes (15!) to make the party Camille's hosting for Poison; the one I've flown all the way over the Atlantic for.

Previous experience tells myself I have two options to make myself look reasonably pulled together and party ready in a matter of minutes – a bold lip, or a statement eye. I go for the latter, even though it takes slightly longer because, hell, I like a challenge. So much so, I film it on my iPhone too.

Here it is: ridiculously easy, 3-minute smoky silver party eyes (try saying that when you're 3 gins down).

Start with a concrete coloured base shadow (far more forgiving than black if you're in a rush), making sure to buff in around the socket line. Next, and most importantly, layer over a highly pigmented silver shadow to bring it alive and make it pop (you're going for impact, remember). I used Dior Monoshadow in Techno, applied with my finger and blended out with a brush. Finish up with black kohl or liquid liner (whichever you're most comfortable with) on your top and bottom lash lines and pile on lots of inky black mascara.

Now back to the party, because it was one hell of one. Dior turned celebrity hangout, Up & Down in Chelsea, into Poison Club for the night. Cue perfume inspired cocktails, breakdancing, dance offs and more models than you could count (including Bella Hadid and crew).

As for the dancing? Well, it went down a little like this…

The silver eye stayed put throughout. How's that for tried and tested.
