In her Balmain gown and bold-yet-sophisticated make-up, Priyanka Chopra dazzled on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night.

The actress - who also presented the Award for Outstanding Variety Talk Series - wore a slicked-back ponytail and matching plummy-toned eyeshadow and lipstick, bringing a glow to her complexion in the process.

Celebrity make-up artist Pati Dubroff was behind the look and has shared her how-to guide to recreating it, including the exact Laura Mercier products she used.

The Inspiration

'As soon as I saw Priyanka's stunning Balmain gown, the first thing that came to mind was an Art Deco, 20s and 30s vibe,' explained Dubroff. 'This inspired me to create a sultry, shiny and mysterious look for her.'

Prepped Skin

Like many make-up artists, Dubroff believes in the necessity for well-prepped skin, so she began by gently massaging Priyanka's face to encourage lymphatic drainage and blood flow. This helps to wake up and also to contour the skin, before any make-up is even applied.

The Perfect Base

1. To achieve a flawless complexion, Dubroff used Laura Mercier's Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation in Suntan, £35, as the formula allows for natural-looking skin, while still ensuring that it 'withstands a very long day and night'.

2. Next, Dubroff brightened the area under Priyanka's eyes and lips - to hide dark circles and add definition to her face - by applying Laura Mercier Candleglow Concealer and Highlighter in shade No. 3, £25.

3. To ensure that the make-up stayed in place throughout the show, a small amount of Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, £29, was applied to the centre of face.

4. Then, instead of contour, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Translucent Medium Deep, £25, was applied on the outer edges of her face, as a way to provide gentle definition.

Eye Make-Up

1. As Dubroff was inspired by the 30s, the make-up artist chose a 'feverish, greasy, red-plum eye shadow' as a main feature of the look. The exact shade was custom-created using a combination of Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colours in Plum and Burnished Bronze, £23.

2. Dubroof then used a few coats of Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Mascara in Bloodroses, £24, a deep plum rather than graphic black shade, to lift Priyanka's lashes, and enhance the eye make-up's colour palette further.

3. Next, Laura Mercier Sketch & Intensify Pomade and Powder Brow Duo in Brunette, £20, was used to enhance the brows.

Lips

The finishing touch to the look was the 'deep, dark lips', created using Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in An Affair, £22. Use alongside the Lip Pencil in Red Chocolate, £19, 'to sharpen the edges and add depth'.
