While acid bright colours are a key beauty direction for AW18, a fuchsia pink or lurid turquoise eye isn't for everyone…unless you're talking about the elegant take on the trend that make-up artist Lucia Peroni devised for Salvatore Ferragamo this weekend, that is.

Lime, yellow, orange, cyclamen, cyan are hardly colours one would describe as classics, but placed upon minimally made up skin, these strident liners pack a chic punch.

'The inspiration for the look is upper class girls feeling a bit punky,' said Peroni. 'She's the Stella Tennant of her day; a rebel but also a posh girl.'

Applying MAC's vivid Chromaline pencils along the upper lashline in a manner she described as 'quite do-it-yourself and primal- it shouldn't look ladylike,' Peroni then applied the matching colours of MAC Chromacakes to tint the lashes.

Surprisingly simple, shockingly sophisticated.
