Good news, lip balm addicts: you can take that zillionth tube you just had to buy and put it to good use—as a glitter mask.

The super-simple, super-brilliant technique was perfected this morning in Paris by Val Garland, who enhanced Giambattista Valli's movie dream dresses by coating six girls' faces and necks in generous globs of M.A.C lip conditioner. 'You really want to press it into the skin,' she advised for best results.

Next, Garland picked an out-of-the-way area—in her case, a graffiti-covered concrete hallway in the Palais de Toyko basement—and filled a small Ikea tray with a mix of fine grade cosmetic glitter and bigger craft store flecks. (We love the plant-based biodegradable kind, which doesn't harm soil or oceans).

Then, she held the tray up to the model's face, and blew the glitter as if huffing out some stubborn birthday candles. (Happy show day, Giambattista; happy show day to you!)

For a more opaque look, Garland added extra glitter on some of the models' faces with a soft brush, especially around the eye area and the base of the nose and lips.

'It's full-on KiraKira,' Garland admitted backstage, citing the sparkly app that's become a favourite of Kendall Jenner, Elsa Hosk, and more. 'It's like the glitterati look has taken over, but isn't it really fun and kind of magic?'

We say oui.
