Dior, Kenzo, Dries Van Noten, Marni, Prada, you name it, they sent an army of models adorned with bold, multi-coloured winged eye make-up in a cartoon palette of rainbow brights storming down the runway.

In a triumphant finale to Paris Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton joined the crayola crew with a nod to this season's biggest beauty trend. Think graphic, go faster racing stripes in pop art shades of yellow, cobalt, tangerine and turquoise emblazoned on models' eyes.

The difference this time? A handful of models were missing half their make-up. Yup, we're talking one precisely lined paintbox eye, and one completely bare. Literally, no make-up whatsoever.

Reflecting Nicolas Ghesquiere's signature neo-futurist vision of AW18, the asymmetric look was created by none other than make-up legend Pat McGrath.

The queen of next level eye looks, McGrath created a bespoke design for each individual model. Some worked fashion week's beloved no make-up make-up look, some were painted with OTT wings surely inspired by the strong but fluid lines of the Louis Vuitton Fondation, and a special few were given a graphic stamp of colour on just one eye.

And you know what half the make-up means? Half the getting ready time. We're calling it - one eye make-up might just be the most practical beauty trend to hit fashion season.

Although we're yet to discover McGrath's inspo board for the look, we can't help but see some subtle nods to pop culture geekery in the squared-off wing design. Ok, Ghesquiere might not have been explicit (read: didn't mention it at all), but if that eye make-up doesn't look eerily like the Zelda Wingcrest we'll eat our AW18 balaclava.
