Olivia Palermo has scored a big beauty role. The New York-based socialite has been signed by nail and make-up brand Ciaté. But rather than model (she’s fronted campaigns for brands like Hogan and Rochas), Palermo has been appointed as Creative Director, according to WWD.com.

The high-profile role will involve giving feedback on new products, as well as collaborating on four make-up and nail collections between now and spring 2016. The first collection will go into Sephora this May (fingers crossed it will reach the UK too).

‘I've been involved with the colours, packaging, marketing, the formulas, and working very closely with [CEO] Charlotte [Knight] to make sure that everything is to the detail of how I like it,’ Palermo said. ‘Everything is a learning process, and educating yourself on beauty is different than fashion, but they both go hand in hand.’

Palermo's first collection will see the products encased in gold and leather packaging inspired by her own style. Products include a face compact; lipstick; suede-textured eyeshadows (the fashion fabric of the season); and polishes.
